Vipshop Supplier Management Approach
Vipshop strives for promoting the construction of a responsible supply chain. Our supply chain management mainly includes brand partner management and supplier management. As an online retail enterprise, our sustainability performance is closely related to the performance of our brand partners and suppliers. We take full account of supplier’s performance in ethics, law compliance, as well as social responsibility when selecting or retaining suppliers.
Vipshop has formulated detailed Supplier Codes of Conduct for both brand partners and non-commodity suppliers, mainly covering the required internal management regulations from them. This reflects the overall approach by which Vipshop manages the social responsibility performance of its suppliers.
Suppliers shall comply with the laws and regulations of the country and the places where they operate, providing reasonable wages and benefits to employees. If the supplier is involved in a labor dispute, it will directly affect its existing or future business with Vipshop.
Suppliers shall comply with national laws and regulations, apply a reasonable system of working hours and eliminate the use of forced labor. Vipshop does not select suppliers who often require their employees to work overtime beyond what allowed by relevant laws and regulations or do not give properly compensation as stipulated in relevant laws and regulations.
Suppliers do not select suppliers who use child labor and products made directly or indirectly by child labor. Suppliers shall not employ any person younger than the legal working age in the host country.
Suppliers shall fully respect human rights and provide a workplace free from discrimination and harassment during the process of production and operation. Under the same conditions, Vipshop has the priority to choose the following suppliers:
Suppliers with a commitment to fundamental human rights principles.
Job applicants shall not be discriminated on the basis of race, color, country of origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability or other similar factors.
Suppliers shall respect employees' rights of freedom of association and collective bargaining, pay attention to and respond to employees' demands in a timely manner, so that its employees can protect their legitimate rights and interests.
Suppliers shall provide a healthy and safe working environment for employees, identify the positions and operational links with occupational diseases and personal safety hazards, and protect employees from potential hazards through training, education, emergency plans and response procedures, etc.
Suppliers shall minimize the use of unnecessary packaging and use recyclable and non-toxic materials. Vipshop gives priority to suppliers meet the following eligibilities:
Make positive commitments to environmental protection.
Passed environmental management system certifications such as ISO14000.
Made outstanding achievements in environmental protection, such as using renewable and recycled materials, carrying out waste management, and actively fulfilling the responsibility of energy conservation and emission reduction.
Suppliers are required to sign the Anti-corruption and Anti-bribery Agreement with Vipshop. Any supplier who violates this policy by providing any gift in any form to any employee of Vipshop will lose its current and future business with Vipshop, regardless of whether the gift has been accepted or not.
Suppliers shall develop training plans and invest resources to help their management and employees acquire the appropriate level of knowledge, skills and capabilities to meet the expectations set forth in this code. At the same time, the implementation of the code shall be tracked and regularly evaluated, and corrective measures shall be taken for any inadequacy found.
In the course of cooperation with Vipshop, if a sub-supplier is involved, the supplier is responsible for informing Vipshop, and shall ensure that the sub-supplier complies with the requirements of this code.
